Welcome to the FG News page - we place occasional news and updates here.

Sun 25 Aug 2019

Following a fun couple of weeks involving  a Chiropractor, Osteopaths (2 of those), a physiotherapist and a brace of masseurs FG will be hitting the road again at the end of the week. My trapped nerve is a bit less trapped than it was so we're looking forward to Banging up the Elephant, and Stormy Stories and even a Beat the Drum all over the place soon.
Apologies to anyone we had to let down in August, believe me if I had arrived, it would not have been pretty. I leave that to Carol. :)

It's going potty again! Some really great shows recently, especially Washington Arts Centre Theatre, which was fantastic. We got some great recordings and photographs, which will find their way to the surface in due course. Lots of bookings coming in for 2020 and we have decided on the theme for the new show (2020 onward) which will be "Unsung Heroes".
We've also had quite a bit of interest with a programme entitled 'An Evening with..." (of course it could be an afternoon just as easily) which is a sort of 'Greatest Hits' package. Ot it would be if we had a hit, but you know what I mean!

In the meantime, onward with the shows and some new gear being added in to make setup a bit easier and hopefully make the live sound even better.

See you on the trail!

Tues 12 Feb 2019

H'mm, it looks like I've been a bit remiss with the old updates. Time for a catch up...

Last year ended with us completing 328 shows. Which is a silly number. It was great fun though, we've tried to cut down a bit this year, and so far it hasn't worked at all.

The new show 'Bang up to the Elephant' has been run out twice so far, and looks like it will do rather nicely. The recording sessions for the CD are still underway, but the books are all printed and look great!

Possibly the most exciting bit of news is the Theatre shows (yes, lil' 'ol us in Theatres!)

We've been very fortunate to have a number of upcoming shows; I hope a few of you can get to at least one.

All the shows are our mixture of stories (about the songs), supported by projected visuals and of course lots of live music, with plenty of audience involvement.

July?

Already?

Crikey!

We have been stupidly busy this month - but in good way. We've had some truly memorable shows, been busy writing new material and been in the studio recording some songs we have been commissioned to write for a History project in Washington. Recording is equally great fun and very frustrating, but once the tech stuff was sorted out the results are sounding very promising - which is good news!

There has been a lot of interest in the new show for next year. 'Bang up to the Elephant' has a Victorian theme, with the emphasis on fun, strong songs (original and of the period - and you DO know them!) and lots of audience involvement - and we're ramping up the visuals too.

That means a lot of work, so I'd better get on with it...

Thur 31 May

You'll have seen all the emails about GDPR and Privacy Policies - lots of times! We think we'd better fall in line so have uploaded our Privacy Policy for people to see if they feel so moved. Basically, we don't keep anything about our visitors, except emails if we're given them. They get used for information bailouts (which are rare) and nothing else. We don't sell our data or use it any other way.

Sheesh.

Wed 23 May

Just back from shows in Saffron Walden and Ashby De La Zouch - great gigs both. As a result of the second show we are investigating the possibility of openings for a Theatre show - now that would be nice!

Fri 18 May

Sadly, tomorrow evening's Beat the drum at Seaton Delaval Arts centre has been commuted. Something to do with a wedding and a football match, apparently. It will be rescheduled for as soon as we can fit it in! If you have tickets, contact the venue for refunds.

Sun 13 May 2018

Yes, well, it's time I put up some news! And, there's a lot to say! We have been really busy so far this year; the number of bookings for this year is a record and we are taking bookings daily for the next couple of years - it's great!

We have therefore been busy playing, and meeting folks at shows - but also developing and improving as much as we can. We have new lighting, new sound gear and I even managed to wangle a new guitar! Carol has a new keyboard and we are exploring all the new sounds, textures and emotions we can add to existing and new FG music.

We are also very busy developing the new show for 2019 - it is called 'Bang up to the Elephant' - a Victorian expression meaning that someone is 'spot-on' - and we think it will be. The show has a Victorian subject theme, there will be new songs covering some well known stories from Victorian times, but we also intent to ruthlessly plunder the Music Hall archive too - if you have any ideas, leave use the contact page to let us know what to include!

Tue 21 Dec: Just added the 2018 bookings to the gigs page - looks like another very busy year! We're very busy developing the new show too - we want to offer something a bit bigger, brighter and better next year (hard to believe I know!)

Sun 24 Sep: Lovely show last night at Cotherstone Village Hall - we really enjoyed playing and it seemed to go down rather nicely! Stanhope Dales Centre this afternoon - should be good too! The big news though, is that the new Beat The Drum CD is finished and sounding great. Also completed is the book to go along with the CD, together they make a great package and we're quietly pleased!

If you can't wait: have a look at it here!

Sat 2nd Sep: Blimey- where did that time go? We have been very (make that VERY) busy this year playing Stormy shows, as well as Waters of Tyme and other things as people ask for specific shows. At the moment we are very busy with the revamped Beat The Drum material as there's a great deal of interest in our WW1 show for 2018 - as you'd expect. The August respite is almost over, and the long run up to Christmas is starting; deep breath - here goes!

Sun 30th April: Fun weekend spent playing with our new lighting - it looks lovely, can't wait to get it out at some of the bigger shows!

Fri 28th April: Fantastic show at Holy Cross Church in Haltwhistle (N'bland). Great venue and a lovely crowd turned out for a lovely ladies' birthday!

Sun 8th January: Just added the new videos to the front page of the website - have a look and let us know what you think! You can always get in touch with us via the contact page - it would be great to hear from you!

Wed 7th December: The decorations are up at FG Towers, and we are well into the Christmas shows. This weekend sees us playing a house concert in Holland - which should be great! Also 2018 bookings are coming in - it's amazing really!

Fri 25th November: Two things really, firstly, the new gigs for 2017 (and some for 2018!) are live on the Gigs page. Secondly, just to say - wow - what a year! Thank you to everyone who has seen us this year, and made nice noises about the show - we hope to see you all again soon!
